As part of
development schemes, Cochin Port Trust (CoPT) is also setting
up a ship repair yard for the repairs of ocean-going vessels.
It is expected to have many advantages — location near to
international sea route, proximity to the international
airport, availability of facilities for all official
clearances like the customs, immigration, etc., and the
moderate climate of a natural harbour.
The project has been proposed to be developed with private
participation under BOT format consistent with existing
privatization guidelines of the central government.
